Beautiful job! What is the material used on the outside? I want to use it on a small addition I am making to my home.

The exterior of the addition at New London Hall is a terra cotta rain screen system. Terra cotta is a clay-based masonry material that was traditionally used for centuries in roofing tiles. Over 25 years ago the material was adapted for use as exterior cladding, beginning in Germany and spreading throughout Europe. This material has been widely used in the US for over 12 years. Terra cotta cladding consists of extruded clay tiles that are fastened to an aluminum support rail system. The cladding is assembled in a high performance “rain screen” that stops water at its surface and maintains a vented cavity protecting the thermal and moisture barrier behind. This engineered cladding system has excellent, long lasting thermal and moisture performance. The terra cotta tiles at New London Hall were manufactured by Boston Valley Terra Cotta out of Buffalo, NY. Their website provides useful information about the product and assembly. http://www.bostonvalley.com

Just saw this article and I think energy saving renovations are good. It is always important to save energy as it also is environment friendly. I think roofing also take a big part in helping save energy and enhanced insulation. Expert roofers know about this one. Anyway, thank you for sharing this nice article.
