Promoted to Senior Associate
Since joining Payette in 2021, Sasha has emerged as a leader of our core science practice with significant applied expertise in laboratory design. She currently leads the team for the new Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard that will open in summer 2024.
A trained biologist, her foundational experiences included work in research laboratories at both the National Institute of Health and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Sasha’s prior architectural experiences include major projects for institutional clients such as Wellesley College and Emmanuel College, along with serving as Project Architect on multiple office to lab conversions. A mentor to junior staff, she also helps lead the relaunch of our office education initiative for Laboratory Planning and Design.

JESSICA HOCTOR, AIA
Promoted to Senior Associate
Jess joined Payette in 2018 with extensive healthcare experience. Currently, she is the Project Manager for all of Payette’s work at Yale New Haven Health’s two campuses—Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, CT and Westerly Hospital in Rhode Island. This includes leading multiple teams through design and construction on extensive complex renovations for Emergency Departments, Diagnostic Imaging and Surgical Services, among others. Jess is also responsible for the design of seven resident floors in the new net zero Skilled Nursing Facility for the Veterans’ Home in Holyoke.
Jess is the Co-Chair for the Healthcare Group, working on several initiatives and knowledge sharing within Payette’s Healthcare Studio. She is also leading the Aging and Space Research Group, focusing on design spaces for those with visual impairments. Jess is the former Co-Chair of Payette’s Young Designers Core and is active in our Women in Design Group, including participating in several panel discussions.

MICHAEL MANDEVILLE, aia
Promoted to Senior Associate
Michael joined Payette in 2017 and has contributed to several significant research projects that have recently completed construction, including UConn’s Science 1 Research Center, Penn State’s EDIB project and Williams College’s two-building science complex. Michael has also led the research planning for several projects which are still in progress including Penn State’s ECoRE building, Harvard’s Kempner Institute, Jefferson’s Biomedical Research Building, the DCAMM Department of Public Health renovation and, most recently, the Takeda Research Headquarters project.
Michael’s methodical approach to lab planning has allowed him to not only juggle large quantities of diverse user groups but has also established a rigorous methodology of drawing and communicating the requirements in our documents. Michael continues to serve as a resource for a range of research typologies including engineering, BSL-3 labs, vivaria, biomedical research and core facilities.

EAMONN MEAGHER, aIA
Promoted to Senior Associate
Eamonn joined Payette in 2018 and has been dedicated to clinical design and planning for a number of projects ranging from the master planning phase to key design details. His extensive healthcare knowledge, combined with meticulous attention to detail, has gained the trust and confidence of multiple clients such as Boston Children’s Hospital, Beth Israel Lahey Health, White Plains Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Eamonn is currently playing a pivotal role on the White Plains Hospital team, planning the surgical platform for the New Inpatient Building.
Eamonn is an enthusiastic mentor and has consistently provided guidance to young designers. His strength and knowledge on clinical design and planning has become an indispensable asset to the growth of Payette’s Healthcare Studio.

JENSON YING, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Promoted to Senior Associate
Since joining Payette in 2013, Jensen has specialized in the shell and core design for several large scale projects, including the exterior design of Northeastern University’s ISEC and pedestrian crossing. He was an integral part of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Klarman Building team, leading the intricate detailing and coordination process for the building envelope. He was also part of the Boston Children’s Hospital Needham outpatient building team, focused on the exterior design and public spaces. Currently, Jensen is the Project Architect for a 14-story New Cancer Hospital and was instrumental to the early studies of the project.
Jensen has served as Co-Chair for Payette Connect, our internal mentorship program, as well as the Detail Dive Group, our internal knowledge-sharing forum, and frequently reviews portfolios with our hiring teams. He lectures on topics such as design assist and embedded nature for both regional and national conferences.

Opening later this year, the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard in Cambridge, MA is an essay in the tuning of building façades for performance. The aluminum sunshades that veil the building began as a concept tested by scoring Bristol paper. The team utilized tools from all modalities: paper models, CNC-mills, parametric studies, solar analysis, wind and water simulations and full-scale mock-ups to inform the design and drive energy use down. The ultra-high performance building is tracking a 61% reduction in energy use compared to the 2030 baseline.
