In an ever-evolving profession, our advancing staff enriches the work and culture at PAYETTE while cultivating the talent, creativity and growth among the very project teams they make up. With great pleasure we announce the advancement of 8 staff members. We’ll feature one staff member each day over the next couple of weeks. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating their achievements.
Robert Pasersky, AIA
Promoted to Associate Principal
Since joining PAYETTE in 1999, Robert has made a significant impact on projects for Duke University, Penn State, West Virginia University, National University of Ireland, Brandeis University and the University of Pittsburgh. Robert has also been generous with his time outside of the office, providing pro-bono design services to several organizations including churches in Alabama victimized by arson and a youth entrepreneurship center in Kenya, Africa. His initiative was rewarded with the national AIA Young Architects Award in 2008. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Tulane University in 1994 and his Master of Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1999.
What inspires you?
Solutions so simple and elegant, in the spirit of The Unknown Craftsman, as to just make you say ‘Duh.’ Be it architecture, pottery, a smart sound, comfortable chair, or the latest thing.
What is the best part of your job?
Using architecture to help solve non-architectural problems. Creating spaces that enable others to research, discover, administer care and teach.
What is the most important thing you’ve learned so far?
A professor once encouraged me to ‘paint with a stick’. To design in layers, building up the tones and textures in ever increasing resolution rather than complete sentences from left to right. To constantly tinker, and to know when to stop.
The sky is the limit: if you could design or redesign anything, what would it be?
A place for everyone to call home.
