We are pleased to announce one of our submissions has been nominated for the Architizer A+ Awards. Architizer is the world’s largest and fastest growing website for architecture and in December launched the definitive architectural award program with 50+ categories and over 200 jurors. The Architizer A+ Awards received entries from a 100 countries and represents the best of architecture and design worldwide.
We submitted our vision for revitalizing Detroit’s downtown to the Architecture +Economic Crisis category, which Architizer outlined as; “The burst housing bubble in the United States and subsequent global economic downturn have been acutely felt in the architecture and design world, but these professions have answered with innovation and resilience. Submit projects that deal with the economic downturn, its consequences and opportunities. Only a project’s relationship to the economic downturn will be judged in this category.”
Our vision, Creating the Nexus for Detroit’s Techtown, seeks to engage the city through established arteries (Woodward, Grand Ave and transit). Long-term development of the District will not be constrained by the project’s current boundaries. The design team envisioned a generative cell of innovation stitches frayed nodes of urban and business activity to spark growth.
Our entry is a finalist in this category and we are thrilled. The finalists in each category are open to Popular Choice voting and we need your help! Head over to Architizer and vote for the PAYETTE entry, Creating the Nexus for Detroit’s Techtown.
