We are pleased to share that our project, the Aga Khan University Hospital and Medical School Campus, was a finalist in the 2016 ACHA Legacy Project Award program. The winning project and finalist projects were announced this week at the PDC Summit. The Legacy Project Award recognizes those groundbreaking healthcare projects that in their time redefined how we understand what a hospital or clinic could be and introduced innovations or supported breakthrough delivery of care concepts.
Completed in 1985, the Aga Khan University (AKU) has become the premier academic medical center in Pakistan. In 2006, the hospital became the first — remains the only — in Pakistan to be accredited by Joint Commission International for achieving and maintaining the highest international quality standards in healthcare. In addition to providing the most advanced healthcare delivery in the country, AKU graduates approximately 150 nurses and 350 physicians each year and is the teaching hospital of choice for residency programs. Today, this campus is the hub of an integrated health delivery network that delivers care to patients in Pakistan and the surrounding region.
This project is iconic for our practice, our client and for healthcare in the region. In their remarks the award jury noted, “The project has matured with age and become richer.” We are honored it is listed among the finalists for the 2016 Legacy Project Awards.
