PSU Engineering collaborative research & education building (ECoRE)
The ECoRE Building is both flagship and front door to the newly created Engineering precinct located at the western terminus of the main campus axis. It accommodates research laboratories, core facilities, next-generation teaching and spaces for faculty/student gathering and collaboration for over 11,000 engineering students.
Sited along Frederick Law Olmsted’s famed Emerald Necklace in Boston, the Klarman Building is precisely tuned to optimize views, solar performance and thermal comfort for patients and their families. Its distinctive serrated terracotta façade reflects the cadence of individual patient rooms, tuned to optimize thermal performance while providing a delicate scale and texture to the façade. A continuous vertical glass gasket frames the Sky Lobby on the inpatient floors and dramatically transitions to form pedestrian bridges connecting the campus with new public amenities. The building is cantilevered 30′ above the sidewalk to shape an intimate series of landscape spaces, taking the shape of a garden wall.
Congratulations to our clients, collaborators and project teams on these achievements!
