This is a time of year that we take a moment to step back, assess the year and give thanks. At PAYETTE we like to gather during the week of Thanksgiving for a firm-wide potluck meal and look back the year. From road races to our bocce ball tournament, softball games, hackathons, construction tours and our projects, we’re always busy and bringing our staff together in new ways.
We wish you a safe and happy holiday weekend.
What does it mean to design a practice—not just a building?
In “Leading Through Practice,” a new Harvard GSD article by A. Krista Sykes, Kevin Sullivan and Angela Ward Hyatt reflect on the ideas and experiences that have shaped their careers.
For Kevin, the GSD was one part of that foundation, deepening his interest in rigor, inquiry and the relationship between teaching and practice. At PAYETTE, those ideas have continued to evolve through projects such as the Ragon Institute, Land’s Sake Farmstand, Northeastern’s Science and Engineering Precinct and the Holyoke Veterans’ Home.
They also shape OpenLAB, which brings research, critique and academic exchange into the everyday life of the practice.
