Elizabeth Cox joined Payette in 2013 and is experienced in the design of healthcare facilities and university hospitals. Her knowledge of Type 1 buildings and regulatory agencies, combined with a meticulous attention to detail, make her an excellent resource. Most recently, she has focused on several complex hybrid OR projects from programming through construction administration. Elizabeth also brings six years of experience in Revit and Building Information Modeling to the team and training in Lean design. Elizabeth graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2006 with a Bachelor of Art in Architecture.
Recently, PAYETTE was selected as 1 of 5 finalists for A Bauhaus Bathroom at the Gropius House, from 280+ submissions across 40+ countries.
Our proposal places a new public restroom beside the historic garage, treating it not as an object, but as part of the arrival sequence to the site. A straight wall organizes movement from the visitor center; a curved, translucent volume gathers entry, waiting, and turning before releasing visitors toward the house.
Inside, dark durable surfaces meet a luminous upper zone, drawing from Gropius’s own use of contrast, color, and diffuse light.
