This cutting-edge translational research facility brings together multiple imaging modalities within complex configurable operating rooms designed for both patient and animal research. This skillfull integration of equipment, mechanical systems and space allows the clinicians and researchers to share an overhead mounted movable MRI and a first-of-its-kind overhead mounted CT scanner within a single configurable operating room. This facility will allow the Medical Center and Dartmouth College to engineer novel solutions for safer surgery, lead image-guided surgery research, as well as providing advanced surgical services within the facility.

Above the inter-operative suite, the upper level is dedicated to expanding the existing imaging suite. This includes two new 3T MRIs and a reconfiguration and expansion of patient and staff support areas including a new entry and waiting area. The design of this high-tech pavilion integrates with the existing imaging center while precisely positioning multiple levels of new and existing magnetic fields. Manipulating the topography of the landscape with the base of the building seamlessly negotiates a full story grade change while creating a new staff entrance and gardens.
