Clemson University - Clemson, SC Materials Science and Engineering Building
The first phase of the new High Ground Precinct – defined by a master plan recently completed by Payette – will consist of a 120,000 GSF new building which will house the School of Materials Science and Engineering. The 4-story structure, that will also house the NSF-funded Center for Advanced Engineering Fibers and Films, will provide a variety of teaching laboratories, generic and specialized research labs, a large high bay lab, offices, and classrooms. The central zone of the building is organized as a series of stacked, connected lobbies, defining areas with different degrees of privacy and transparency, and including spaces for academic collaboration, interaction and gathering. The lobby will also act as a pedestrian through-connector from the main entrance off the promenade to the lower terrace on the North Garden.
