Chemistry Link Building

The new Chemistry Link Building on the main campus forms a bridge, both literally and symbolically, between science departments formerly isolated in separate buildings, and between buildings of disparate architectural styles. The Link Building is flanked by a neoclassical brick building and a Bauhaus-inspired concrete and brick facility. A significant campus path leading to a science "quad" is found beneath the Chemistry Link Building. The design reinforces connections between the departments of Chemistry and Earth and Planetary Sciences, particularly in the area of atmospheric research, which includes analytical, physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry. With 25,000 square feet of new construction and 8,000 square feet of renovated space, the building is a highly adaptive design for an open laboratory environment, allowing components to be broken down and reconfigured.
