Amherst College - Amherst, MA Earth Sciences Building and Museum of Natural History
The 60,000 square foot combined Earth Sciences Building and Museum of Natural History is sited at a prominent location that initiates the re-definition of a major campus space. The new facility will enhance the identity and visibility of both the geology department and museum. The facility will include state of the art teaching labs for both introductory geology courses as well as advanced instruction in the geological sciences. Students in these disciplines will have access to their own specialized research spaces, map rooms, a library and multidisciplinary GIS lab. The new Natural History Museum will house outstanding collections and exhibits that include vertebrate and invertebrate paleontology, minerals and other geologic specimens, and anthropological material.
